Local actress Puleng Ndlovu gets a second chance at stardom!

Local actress and model Puleng Ndlovu (30) was born and bred in Lamontville, South of Durban KwaZulu Natal. She holds a Bachelor Degree in Social Science (Management, Media Studies & Communications, Political Science) from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. She recently completed the Actor-Wize, foundation TV-Screen Acting course, which is founded and taught by Rajesh Gopie (Actor/Lecturer/Playwright/Director/Producer).

Puleng spent her early 20’s years as a fashion model where she appeared in newspapers and magazines both local and national including Glamour magazine. She has graced runways for big clothing brands both in Durban and Johannesburg. Throughout her time in the fashion industry she developed a love for Acting and have been pleasantly overwhelmed by the opportunities in which acting was introduced to her. In 2009, she appeared on Generations several times as a featured extra and straight after she was casted for the 2009 romantic comedy film White Wedding.

Things were looking up for Puleng, but she had to take a break in 2012 from modelling and acting after discovering she was pregnant with her son Luthando. She tried to put her degree to effective use by going to the corporate world as she now had to take care of her son. In 2015 Puleng found herself without a job as her contract at her than place of employment ended. She also had to come to terms with facing her long time spiritual calling where she had to go through a month long “amagobongo” process. Puleng had to give up her glamourous image of a model to focus on her calling which she believes had open so many doors for her since then.

While she continued to look for a corporate job after the “amagobongo” process she reconnected with her long-time mentor Boni Xaba a professional photographer in 2016. “Boni encouraged me to get back to the industry but focus on acting not modelling as I was

approaching my 30th birthday and acting has no age limit” she said laughing out loud! Puleng did a few photo-shoots with her mentor to boost her confidence. It was not long before she had an opportunity to do a foundation TV-Screen Acting course and soon after landed a lead role in the riveting drama film “Indumba” that tells a story of a hardworking career woman who finally falls pregnant after years of trying and gets promoted to Chief Financial Officer but soon realizes that there are other forces in charge of her destiny when she loses it all and must correct an old wrong. The film is produced by Sobabili Films and directed by Zama Msibi. It will be aired on Saturday the 16th of September 2017.
