#MyRadioPeople: Inanda FM’s Nhlanhla Ngwenya

I am featuring Inanda FM‘s Nhlanhla Ngwenya, producer of the Business Class show 12-3pm weekly. Get to know Nhlanhla as he shares his radio journey with us below.

Why radioI loved radio since I was a child, I used to listen to it with my grandfather. He used to ask me to fetch the radio when its time for the news. I felt in love with it, because I was wondering where or how did these people got inside the radio. So I wanted to be like them, I  then followed everything pertaining radio.

Which other radio stations have you worked at? I started working in an inhouse radio station in Chatsworth called Chats Radio, it is where I got the confidence of working in front of people because It was in a mall, where everyone passed by.

Did you study radioYes I studied for radio at Intec college.
Besides RadioRadio is what I am busy and focusing on right now, nothing else but radio.
Who is your South African Radio Icon? Dumsani Simelane of Ligwalagwala FM, he does the breakfast show, he is my inspiration.
What can we expect from you in the next 5 years? Well I can’t predict the future, but I see myself in one of the biggest stations in Mzansi; Ukhozi FM. My plans are to run my own record label, where I’ll be uplifting young stars.
How often do you listen to other radio stations and which radio stations do you usually listen to? I listen to radio everyday, I listen to Inanda FM, Radio 2000, Ligwalagwala FM & Ukhozin FM.
What has working on radio taught you? I learned to be patient & to have perseverance. It also taught me things like communication skills & to be a problem solver.
What advice can you give to aspiring radio broadcasters? They must go and study, because education is the key & radio requires a patient person. It does not happen over one night.

Thanks so much for reading, hope to see you again :)
